  • Ribavirin may cause severe

  • It is considered a Pregnancy Category X medication, meaning that it should be avoided in pregnancy.
  • Ribavirin stays in the body for up to 6 months, so patients who take it must use highly effective birth control methods during treatment and for 6 months after stopping ribavirin.
